If it is a small bill that contains the words "The japanese government" and then underneath that "Five Centavos" then it is from the japanese occupation in the philipienes and is worth 5-10 dollars depending on its condition. They were issued, during WWII to certain workers and then became useless when the occupation ended. they were burned in mass, but some brought them back to the states. Many collectors are intrested. I have about 50-100 of these, and some russian money from the period. if anybody is interested or just wants to learn more, email me.

I have a paper bill that is from WWII from my father and I cannot find a match for it. Green shading on paper with what looks like a palm tree on the left front side and PH in the upper right hand corner? No other identifiers in except "The Japanese Government" and the number 1 in each corner and on the back. Seal on the front is green under the large number 1. I'm researching to match it with any other peso's but no luck so far? or Value?, please email me.

Found this with a simple google.
There's also a jap gov paso on ebay for 25 cents.
During World War II in the Philippines, the occupying Japanese government issued fiat currency in several denominations known as Japanese government-issued Philippine fiat peso. The Japanese-sponsored Second Philippine Republic under Jose P. Laurel outlawed possession of guerilla currency and declared a monopoly on the issuance of money and anyone found to possess guerilla notes could be arrested.
Due to the fiat nature of the currency, the Philippine economy felt the effects of hyperinflation. The Filipinos called the fiat peso, "Mickey Mouse" money, because it was similar to play money and next to worthless. Many survivors of the war tell stories of going to the market laden with suitcases or "bayong" (native bags made of woven coconut or buri leaf strips) overflowing with the Japanese-issued bills. 75 Mickey Mouse pesos, or about 35 U.S. dollars at that time, could buy one duck egg[1]. In 1944, a box of matches cost more than 100 Mickey Mouse pesos[2].

Shocks! I'm a Filipino and why on Earth are you trying to trace down the worth of that fake currency? Yup! THat was fake! Anyway, I'm only interested in it because of its historical background. Anyway, to tell you guys out there 75 Mickey mouse money is equals to 35 U.S dollars at that time. Funny to have that currency when it's one of the most useless money in the history of the world. My ancestors didn't even use it. They just threw those trash and have a "barter" or exchanging of products (e.g. a person will exchange vegetables to a number of fishes- see no money involved?)... No worth long ago, means it has no worth today except that it's part of history like some old furniture, that's the least reason you can make money out of it, only because of its history and age. If you have one then congratulations! You own a peice of paper dated 1940's...
